louise's anger

  • Villazzano Theater Trento Italy (map)

Produced by PequodCompagnia. Reading curated by Maura Pettorruso.

Post-reading debate led by sociologist and transfeminist Elena Pavan.

Little known in Italy, but a prominent figure in France, Louise Michel was a teacher who lived at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. During the days of the Paris Commune in 1871, she fought on the front lines and founded "The Women's Union," one of the first associations for the emancipation of women. Throughout her life, she traveled the world giving lectures and writing books in support of the rights of women and all exploited living beings (human and non-human). Her words are still a beacon today for anyone fighting not only for gender equality, but for a world where no human being is exploited.
